THE 2010 HASTINGS HALF MARATHON AND BRIGHTON MARATHON:

The 2010 Hastings half marathon has been run and the Ashdown Hurrey / Spectrum team once again covered itself in glory with a number of personal bests being recorded. More importantly a massive £5,000 has been raised for St Michael’s Hospice, of which we are proud to be patrons.
Attention now shifts to the Brighton Marathon on 18th April in which Terry Weston will be pounding the streets for the team and the Hospice.
Every penny counts, so please help us to help the Hospice by donating here at the St Michael's Hospice Just Giving Page

THE PHOTOPLOD 2010 CHALLENGE 40 MILE WALK:

A team from Ashdown Hurrey and Spectrum recently took part in the Photoplod 2010 challenge; walking along the South Downs Way from Steyning in West Sussex to Birling Gap near Beachy Head. This is a distance of 40 miles with the added challenges of doing it in under 17 hours and leaving Steyning at midnight!
This was the firm’s first time of taking part and we achieved a very respectable tenth place out of 35 teams entering. Our first walker “got home” in 15 hours 10 minutes and the whole team was over the line within 15 hours 30 minutes. We also need to thank those supporters who turned out to cheer us on. After this length of time on our feet they made us feel as if it was worth doing.
This was a sponsored event to raise money for Action Medical Research. With the support of family, friends, colleagues and clients we have raised £1,877, almost twice the required target of £1,000, for which the team is very grateful.
Partners Patrick Lee, Jeff Moore and Terry Weston together with staff members Stephen Chambers, Julie Curtis, Simon Lawrence and Jo Legg made up the walking team with perhaps the most crucial member being Graham Peters who drove the support vehicle; keeping us fed, comfortable and generally making the next stage of the hike seem possible!
